Menstrual Health & Hygiene Support

Menstrual Health & Hygiene Support

Menstrual poverty is a major barrier to education for girls in Northern Uganda. This project seeks to keep girls in school, reduce stigma, and promote menstrual health through training, access to reusable pads, and education.

This initiative equips schoolgirls and out-of-school adolescents with practical knowledge and materials for safe menstrual management. Girls are trained to sew reusable sanitary pads using locally sourced materials. These pads are also distributed to those who cannot afford any menstrual products. The project includes educational sessions that demystify menstruation, debunk myths, and promote self-confidence. Boys and male teachers are also engaged to foster supportive school environments. This intervention not only improves health and hygiene but also boosts school retention rates among girls.

Focus Areas:

  • Reusable sanitary pad making workshops

  • Pad distribution to adolescent girls

  • Menstrual hygiene education

  • Male engagement to reduce stigma

Finally

Every girl deserves to manage her period with dignity. Join our mission to end period poverty—donate reusable pads, sponsor a school kit, or host a pad-making workshop.
