Combating Child Malnutrition
Northern Uganda continues to face high rates of acute and chronic malnutrition among children under five. This project focuses on community-based nutrition strategies to improve child survival, growth, and development.
Combating Child Malnutrition
Caregivers are trained on how to prepare nutritious meals using locally available ingredients, set up home gardens, and practice responsive feeding. Community nutrition champions and local health workers conduct home visits and group education sessions. Women’s groups are established to support breastfeeding practices, dietary diversity, and child health monitoring. This project complements ongoing government efforts and aligns with national child nutrition targets.
Focus Areas:
Nutrition education for parents and caregivers
Backyard gardening and food production
Exclusive breastfeeding and complementary feeding awareness
